Sakina Bigzad, a student from Afghanistan studying in Bangladesh, has won a silver medal and a bronze medal at the 9th Hero Taekwondo Championship held in Thailand.

The report states that the competition took place from July 31 to August 2 in Pattaya, Thailand, with participation from over four thousand athletes from thirty countries.

It is mentioned that Sakina Bigzad is a computer science student in Bangladesh and trains at a taekwondo club there.

Bigzad participated in the competition representing Afghanistan, collaborating with her Bangladeshi coach. She was the only representative from Afghanistan in this event.

She excelled in the competition, winning a bronze medal in the “Poomsae” category and a silver medal in the “Speed Punch” category.

Bigzad’s achievement comes at a time when girls in Afghanistan are deprived of sports. Since taking control of the country, the interim government has imposed restrictions on women, banning them from sports and dissolving all women’s national teams.
