Femena, or the organization supporting feminist movements, has announced that the restrictions imposed by the Taliban government in Afghanistan on women’s movement and the activities of female staff in aid organizations have limited women’s access to humanitarian and life-saving services.
In a message posted on its X account, the organization warned that these restrictions have increased the risks and vulnerabilities of women and girls during the floods in Nuristan.
The feminist movement organization further emphasized that the consequences of this crisis for women and girls could become more severe due to the existing limitations.
This comes after sudden floods in the city of Parun, the capital of Nuristan, resulted in at least 23 fatalities, around 80 injuries, and over 100 reported missing.
The floods occurred following heavy rainfall and caused extensive damage to homes and property belonging to the residents of this province.
During the floods in Nuristan, seven houses were completely destroyed, and 23 houses were partially damaged. Additionally, 70 shops and 11 hotels in the city of Parun were either fully or partially affected, and 40 vehicles were destroyed.
