The Afghan Red Crescent Society has recently announced the opening and operation of a specialized hospital for the treatment of congenital heart defects in Kabul.
This hospital was inaugurated in a ceremony attended by senior government officials.
Officials from the Red Crescent Society state that free services will be provided for the treatment of patients with congenital heart defects at this hospital.
They emphasized that this hospital has the capacity to treat approximately two thousand patients annually.
Additionally, Abdul Wali Hotmanzi, the director of this hospital, stated during the inauguration ceremony that the center is equipped with two operating rooms with modern equipment.
Previously, children with congenital heart defects in Afghanistan were either sent to India for treatment or referred to private hospitals within the country.
Shahabuddin Delawar, the president of the Afghan Red Crescent Society, mentioned during the inauguration ceremony that 15,000 patients with congenital heart defects have already been treated in domestic hospitals.
He clarified that these patients were treated at the expense of the Afghan Red Crescent Society.
Officials have expressed hope that with the opening of this hospital, free treatment will be made available for all patients with congenital heart defects, and that patients will no longer have to wait for years for treatment.
