The United Nations Women has recently stated that gender equality does not mean a reduction in men’s rights.

In a message shared on its X account, the organization wrote that rights are not like pizza, where if one person’s share increases, another’s must decrease.

UN Women further emphasized that all individuals deserve to enjoy equal rights.

This comes at a time when women in Afghanistan have faced severe restrictions in accessing their fundamental rights for nearly five years.

Girls and women in Afghanistan are effectively restricted in their access to education, work, freedom of movement, and the right to choose.

The actions of the current government have resulted in millions of schoolgirls being deprived of education and learning opportunities.

Additionally, women have been banned from going to sports clubs, restaurants, public baths, being examined by male doctors, traveling without a male guardian, and working in domestic and international NGOs, as well as even at UN offices in Afghanistan.

According to reports, if this ban continues, nearly four million girls may be deprived of education by 2030.
