Sahra Karimi, an Afghan filmmaker, has announced the production of her 12-minute short film “Memory of Kabul” in Berlin.
In a message posted on her X account, she stated that this work is about Afghanistan and the experiences of the women and girls of the country.
She further emphasized that the idea for this film came to her while walking the streets of Berlin on August 15.
Karimi added that to produce the film, she gathered collaborators from India, the Czech Republic, Finland, and Berlin, completing the filming in three days.
“Memory of Kabul” features Arzu Aryapur, Hosseina Akbar, and Omran Kakar.
Sahra Karimi is responsible for writing and directing this work, while Hershiman Anand is the cinematographer.
Karimi mentioned that creating this film was an opportunity for her and her collaborators to produce a short yet significant piece about Afghanistan, with a narrative centered on the experiences and situation of Afghan women.
According to information released by Karimi, the editing of the film will take place in the United States, and color correction and sound design will be done in Prague.
She also emphasized that “Memory of Kabul” is expected to be completed by the end of December.
